Jesus himself tells us in Mark 11: 24 that whatever we ask for in prayer we must believe that we have received it. Prayer was real to Jesus. Hebrews 5:7 tells us that "during the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission."
Prayer is the catalyst that causes God to act. Mark 9:29 tells us that there are some things that can only be accomplished through prayer ". . .This kind can come out only by prayer."
Prayer is our protection from sin. Matthew 26 recounts the night before Jesus' crucifixion as he went to final prayer to His father for deliverance. He took Peter, James, and John along with him and asked them to "watch & pray", only to return and find them sleeping. Sleeping at a time when scripture tells us that Jesus' soul was "...overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death." Again he asked them to "watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Prayer is real. Prayer is transforming. All around the world cities, and even countries, are being transformed through the power of effective, fervent prayer of righteous men and women. Pray with all of us that as we pray we will see a transformation in America.
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." Col 4:2
"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer..." I Peter 3:12
